BENJAMIN DAVID DEVANEY Goddard - Benjamin "Benny" David DeVaney, 70, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. He was born on May 5, 1953 in Pratt to Benjamin Wallace and Madeline Mary (Maas) DeVaney. Benjamin married Lorie Lee (Bogart) DeVaney on October 8, 1977 at Sacred Heart Church in Pratt. They were married for 45 years. Benjamin graduated from Clark High School, Las Vegas, Nevada in 1971. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1978. He worked as a Service and Installation Technician with Oppliger Banking Security System. He was a member of Church of the Holy Spirit in Goddard. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. His creativity shined through in his metalworking and in conversations. His "engineering" skills surfaced for fixing and building things which he loved to do. He is survived by his wife, Lorie; son, Tyler Paul Thomas DeVaney of Goddard; daughter, Megan Elysse DeVaney of Goddard; sisters, Patricia Anne Mandrell of Tulsa and Mary Madeline (Andy) Peters of Austin; grandchildren, Cameron Duane Winters, Bryant David Linthicum and Hayden Grace Landon; mother in-law, Marilyn Bogart of Pratt; sisters in-law, Kim (Dennis) Pierron of Easton, Dee Dee (Bill) Eastes of Pratt and Jamie (Greg) Barton of Derby; brother in-law, Marty (Suzy) Bogart of Haysville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and his much loved furbabies, Walter and Dot. Benjamin is preceded in death by his parents; infant children, Courtney and Russell; brother in-law, David Mandrell; and father in-law, Tommy Bogart. Friends may sign the book Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 5, 2023 at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt. Benny's life will continue to be celebrated following the service at Bixler's Art Barn, 20011 SE 20th Ave, Pratt. Memorials may be made to Lifeline Animal Placement and Protection (LAPP) at lifelineanimalplacement.org or in care of Larrison Mortuary. Online condolences may be made at www.larrisonmortuary.com.
