When I became pregnant with my first child (single mother), the only thing that I was sad about moving from Detroit to Houston was that I was leaving Detroit World Outreach. Pastor Ben and my DWOite family were blessings to me. I had never experienced a church that felt like how Heaven would possibly be (multicultural, lots of love, allowing the Spirit to flow in service). I admired Pastor Ben's obedience to the Holy Spirit and the way he taught his messages. I always learned. Even to this day, 6 years later, I still remember the message about sharpening your sickle. Among other things like me being apart of the 1st service of the East location and I had just joined the choir at the Redford location...things were great. But becoming pregnant out of wedlock and not having the support of my child's father and me being "high risk" and with my own family living in Houston, I had to leave. But I NEVER forgot about DWO. So hearing this news had me (and still has me) emotional. I can't believe he's gone. But we shall see him in Heaven one day. God bless and comfort all whose were touched by Bishop Ben. We love you!

I TRULY APPRECIATE BISHOP BEN GIBERT TEACHING THE WORD OF GOD.

March 10, 2017
I randomly ended up in a study group with Ben my first quarter at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB); this was essentially my first academic team activity there. He and our other teammate both had engineering backgrounds, lots of experience with computer modeling, etc., and I did not (though I tried to pull my weight given my writing ability!). He was very helpful and I'm fondly recalling his sense of humor. That experience gave me more confidence as I proceeded through the rest of my time in the program, and for that I am grateful. I'm also remembering him in his leather jacket, sitting near the birds' sculpture, a popular meeting place in the middle of the school's courtyard. I'm very sorry to hear his life was cut so short and I'm sending my condolences to all his loved ones.

As an addition to my previous post, I also wanted to let you know that there has been a touching outpouring of loving memories of Ben and his impact on our Stanford Graduate School of Business Class of 1990. Many remembered his insightful contributions to class discussions, his ability to point them toward "what is truly important," and his stories that carried a powerful message.

My heart is heavy, but my comfort is that Ben walked so closely with the Lord that he is truly At Home. Ben was the vessel that God used to bring me deeper in my faith at a pivotal time. I came to business school to build my career and ended up building a deeper life of faith in God. God used Ben to demonstrate to me that there was more to God than what I was living. Ben touched the lives of my husband, my sister, and many others. I will be forever grateful that God loved me enough to touch my life with Ben, and with the amazing story of how He brought you two together in an anointed union. Please know that I am here for you and that you are covered in prayer.

God has plans many of us will never understand. Charisse and Benny are family and I'll always be grateful for them. Benny was an amazing man, son, brother, husband, father, cousin, uncle, friend! He loved the Lord and we know he's in Heaven. I remember growing up watching and listening to Benny at Betehle AME church where his parents were actively involved. Charisse and his 4 beautiful kids, stand strong in faith because God will NEVER leave you. We all know his body was a shell and temporary. The glory of the Lord needed him more. I love you all. Keep the memories...they last a lifetime! Love you all cousins!

Bishop Gilbert was my mom's Bishop. She passed in February 2014.
Bishop Gilbert officiated my mom's memorial service. I praise God for him because he took the time to learn what her favorite snack was and even had a bag of Lays potato chips and an Almond Joy on display as he spoke words of encouragement to all of the friends and family she loved.
I'll never forget him...
I'm sending Much love & many prayers to his family. Thank you for sharing him with us!

I am a member at DWO. When I joined the church I had just lost my husband of 44yrs. He was my "heartbeat", my life. I was hurt, scared, confused and didn't know what to expect down the road or what my journey would"Behold".I was in desperate need of guidance, since of direction and purpose in life. Bishop Benjamin Gibert gave me my "Life" back through his "Godly knowledge and teaching, I gained strength, I infused "Power", and learned the "Purpose in my "Life". To Dr. Charisse and Family, stay strong, prayed up, keep "God" ahead of each and everyone of you, each and everyday and through time the burden will lighten. His spirit and will "forever" live on in your hearts. God "Bless" and always hold on to "God's" Unchanging Hand.
