In memory of
1938 - 2015
Judge David L. Levy (Ret.)
November 5, 2021
I met Benton when we we were both teaching at the same Law School. Over those several years, we spent many hours in private and quiet conversations about life, family, and, of course, the law. I was amazed how easily he explained famous historical events in very simple and person (from personal knowledge and experience) terms. He played a very important role in his tat a critical time in our Nation“s history. Most Americans, whether they knew Benton or not, will ever know the depth of his involvement in the inner workings of the Ford Administration or the extent and nature of his professional interchanges and private conversations with the former President, Richard Nixon. Benton was BRILLIANT (intentional capitalized) and he exuded total Integrity! I was honored that he shared a close friendship with me. What a loss...to his family, his friends, the legal profession, and the Country.
Most sincerely,
JUDGE DAVID L. LEVY, (Ret.).

I first met Benton when I was a short-termed pledge of TEP, ultimately blackballed.
I was a receiver on TEP's football team and caught many passes from Benton, a precise QB, some for TDs, two against Theta Chi, which pursued me after TEP cut me loose.
I later devilishly enjoyed the TD passes I caught and interceptions I made against TEP as a Theta Chi pledge and member.
I mention this to put into context that throughout all of this frantic part of my life, Benton was always friendly and kind.
I followed Benton's legal career and once, when we serendipitously sat next to each other on a flight to somewhere, we had wonderful conversations during which I was delighted that he had also kept up with mine.
Benton was a good man and I'll bet a wonderful husband and father.
God bless him and his family.

Mr. Becker was my professor in St. Thomas University Law School in 2005 and he impressed me not only as one of most brilliant and extremely clever people I ever met, but also the fact that Mr. Becker had practiced Constitutional Law on the highest level, gave him an ability to share his experience and knowledge of Constitutional law with his law students, in a way that no other professor could. I kept in touch with Mr. Becker after I established my own law firm and he was always accessible, friendly and ready to help me with anything that he could. Mr. Becker will be greatly missed and my prayers are with Mr. Becker's family during this difficult times.

I worked with Benton in the 70's in the HMO business in Miami. I'm glad I knew him. Fine fellow.

Benton and I were friendly in high school when I backed him up at quarterback. He and I later were fraternity brothers at Maryland in Tep. I always found Benton to be genuine, kind, considerate and loyal during the years we were friends, and I know he will be missed by all of us who had the privilege of calling him our friend. Our hearts go out to JoAnn, his children and grandkids. We should all do our part to keep his memory alive.

The suite of offices where Professor Becker had an office at St. Thomas University School of Law is named the "Benton Becker" suite. I am glad that we did this.

To the Becker Family,
We were privileged to be Benton's students at FAU where he taught us constitutional law and about the Nixon pardon. We relished his classes and will sorely miss him.
Our heartfelt condolenses to his family on this sad loss. He will be fondly remembered by these devoted students.

My thoughts and prayers are with Professor Becker's family. I exhausted his curriculum as an undergraduate, and knew he appreciated that when he wrote: me into exam questions, recommendation letters for study abroad and graduate school, and a letter to my mom. Grateful for his intellect, patience and generosity.

Benton had a large personality, warm heart and a wonderful sense of humor. I recall receiving JFKs, "Profiles in Courage" and never quite grasped the message until many years later. Benton touched so many of us, he'll be missed but not forgotten. Love to you all.
