Beranton J. Whisenant Jr.

Beranton and I were friends in elementary and middle school. We lost touch when he moved to Florida, and randomly contacted each other over the years. I just hear about his passing and although it has be over 2 decades since we last saw each other, I still feel his loss. I also maintain relationships with mutual friends that he helped foster. My love and condolences to the the Doctors Whisenant and the family I never got to meet.

May he Rest in Peace.

His countenance, character, & personality reflected kindness, compassion and peace. I spoke to him briefly, yet those brief moments made a lasting impression. R.I.P.

My heart goes out to the entire family. I was lucky enough to teach BJ in high school. BJ was definitely a standout. With his gentle heart and superior intellect, I am not surprised to hear of his success in his, much too abbreviated, life. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Beranton was a very intelligent person who would help any and everyone at the drop of a dime. He's taught me so much...I will miss you my friend! My deepest condolences to his family!

I met Beranton 3 years ago, as opposing counsel in an environmental contamination lawsuit. He was the consummate professional, completely trustworthy, and a very skilled attorney. At age 37, he embodied what the profession used to be and he possessed the skills so few young attorneys possess and practice today. The profession will miss him, and I will miss him.

Beranton and I were at UF together. First year of law school can be cut throat, but I remember his easy going demeanor and smile. May his family always know how he touched others.

I knew "BJ" for almost 20 years. We met in corporate finance class my junior year at FAMU and became fast friends. I had the pleasure of sharing his final birthday with him last year and we had recently been in contact. His death leaves a big void on all who knew him.

It was a blessing to befriend Beranton when I lived in South Florida. He was a talented, principled, and great man to know. My prayers for comfort to his wife, children, family, and friends during this time of bereavement. He was definitely one of the good guys. I am comforted that Beranton will continue to fight for and protect us in heaven.

It was a privilege to try a case with Beranton. He was a very good trial lawyer, husband, and father. He had a goal of being admitted to the bar in all 50 states and eventually a judge, but he was taken way too soon to reach his goals. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. mourn the passing of our fraternity brother "BJ" Whisenant Jr.

"Goodwill is the Monarch of This House; Men unacquainted, enter, shake hands, exchange greetings, and depart friends..." For Alpha brothers who met BJ at the University of Florida, he arrived in Gainesville and immediately availed himself to brothers in the "House of Alpha."

He was a proud FAMU Rattler but quickly established a rapport with Alpha brothers enrolled in the UF College of Law and worked with other Alpha alumni brothers to select and initiate a new generation of Alpha undergraduates on the campus of the University of Florida.

"College days swiftly pass, imbued with memories fond, and the recollection slowly fades away..." The Alpha Gator Nation recollects fondly on our time with BJ at FLORIDA and mourn his transition to Omega Chapter, Alpha's final Chapter of rest.

So sorry for the loss of such a positive brother. Rest in the Omega chapter line brother. Spring 2001 Beta Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
