Bernadette Weiss Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 24, 2023.
Bernadette (Bunny) McDonald Weiss, loving wife, step-mother, sister, and aunt left this world suddenly on May 29, 2023. Born on July 1, 1967, Bunny was the 4th child born to the late Bernard (Bernie) and the late Susan (Campopiano) McDonald of Springfield, PA. Since her parents thought she would be their last child, all of whom were girls, she was named Bernadette after her dad.

Bunny enjoyed reading which made her an excellent student. After graduating from Cardinal O'Hara High School in 1985, she went on to Immaculata University where she majored in Business and graduated in 1989 with distinction. She then embarked on a varied professional career which included hospitality, insurance and academia.

Predeceased by her father in 1981, Bunny was a devoted daughter to her mother until her death in 2014. She loved to travel, particularly with her Mom. Favorite trips were to England, Belgium and the Caribbean. She was also an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially ice hockey.

In 2007, Bunny met Charles (Chuck) Weiss at a music festival in the Poconos and the rest is history. They married in 2009 and settled in West Chester, PA where the two spent every available moment renovating their home and assisting elderly residents in their neighborhood with household tasks or errands.

Also survived by siblings Linda Greene (the late John P.) of Springfield, PA, Michele Brown (Tom) of Broomall, PA, Julie Colleluori (Michael) of Mt. Royal, NJ, and John McDonald (Lisa) of Somerdale, NJ, step-children Michael, Jessica and Carolyn; 8 nieces, 4 nephews 1 great-nephew and 3 step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Bunny's first heavenly birthday, Saturday, July 1 at 10:30AM at the Faith Community Baptist Church, 1585 Glenside Road, Downingtown, PA 19335. Refreshments to follow. Internment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bunny's memory may be made to Cardinal O'Hara High School - Class of 1985, 1701 S. I´m so sorry to hear about my old friend Bunny. I´m not on social media and just heard the sad news. I remember spending fun sleepovers with her in grade school and waking up to Julie putting on makeup! I´m thinking of you all

I was just devastated to hear this sad news about Bernadette´s passing. We used to be very close during and after our Apple Vacation days, but sadly we drifted apart. I have often thought about Bunny over the years, always thinking that we would reconnect. I´m very sorry that I didn´t get that chance. We had such good times together and she will be surely be missed. God Bless you Bunny, and rest in peace.
