The shiva candle has burnt out. I didn't realize I could light one this way. Your smile, your music and your love will always be with me. Love you forever.

I was privileged to play saxophone and clarinet in the UCLA Bruin Bands when Barney played horn, along with Art Breigleb, David Duke and, or rare occasion, their mentor Sinclair Lott, a horn section that could rival those of many major symphony orchestras. Barney was a great companion and always welcomed me, an out-of-towner, to his family home. I'm sorry to have lost touch with him completely during his later, very interesting career: a great loss.

A clever and witty individual. A pleasure to work with through the years. He will be deeply missed.
