On Sunday, August 26, 2018, beloved husband of Evelyn S. Kobosky; father of Janet M. Kobosky (Alan Barlow) and Bernard J. Kobosky, Jr. (Dr. Lisa Cibik); also survived by his granddaughter, Julia Barlow; and step-granddaughter, Alexandra Good, Esq. A graduate of Duquesne University for his undergraduate and Master's degrees, Dr. Kobosky earned his Ph.D at the University of Pittsburgh. He served the University of Pittsburgh from 1968 until 1988, first as Director of Admissions, then as Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and finally as Vice Chancellor of Public Affairs. A passionate advocate of the University of Pittsburgh and its positive impact on the Oakland community, Dr. Kobosky had a special focus on the University's governmental relations and fundraising. His tireless effort on behalf of Pitt was rewarded with significant gifts to the University from Pittsburgh foundations and philanthropies. After retiring from the University, he served as a Senior Consultant for UPMC Health System from 1988 until 2003. Dr. Kobosky was instrumental in integrating the University of Pittsburgh, the School of Medicine, Presbyterian Hospital, Montefiore Hospital, and Shadyside Hospital as a University-related entity. He was a member of the Duquesne Club, the Pittsburgh Athletic Association, and Oakmont Country Club. Friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street, on Wednesday 3-7 p.m. Funeral Thursday, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral, 10:00 a.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery is private. Remembrances may be made to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett Street, Pgh., PA 15243 or Western Pennsylvania Golf Association Scholarship Fund, 930 N. Lincoln Avenue, Pgh., PA 15233.
