Bernard Alan Levy

I´m deeply sorry of Dr. Levy´s passing. As a former foreing student from Brazil I had a great opportunity to know Dr. Levy as well as to be a student of this outstanding professor at Dental School of University of Maryland. He gave to me an opportunity to increase my knowledgment in Oral Patothology and his friendship while I was in Baltimore. Thank you so much Dr. Levy for everything and your existence in this world makes difference. With all my regards to his family and friends.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Levy's passing. As a former student and eventually a colleague in the Department of Oncology and Diagnostic Sciences, my experiences with Dr. Levy were one of continual learning as well as professional mentorship. His "old school" method of teaching and our small group discussions of biopsies and oral histopathology slides are "times gone past" but will always be fond, lasting memories. My sincerest sympathy to Mrs. Levy, Alice and David.

There are a lot of things that I remember about Bernie. We were colleagues at the Dental School of the University of Maryland for about 37 years and used to visit each other's offices at least two or three times a week. Bernie was an amazing man; he had a wide spectrum of interests and we discussed history, politics, literature, arts, new developments in the sciences, and travel among other topics. One of the things that I will never forget was our discussions about extrasensory perceptions and he told me about some of the things that he experienced. He mentioned three different incidents that happened to him, especially the one about traveling in the Alps with his family and they had reservations at a hotel that was a converted chateau. Bernie said that they were about to check in but he had a strange feeling and he said to his family that we're not staying here. Although Gail and the kids opposed his decision, Bernie was adamant and they left. The next day it was all over the news that the chateau was partially destroyed by an avalanche. Bernie, wherever you are, rest in peace.
Gail, my deepest condolences for your loss of such a good man.
