Bernard Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 11, 2024.
Bernard Bryant Williams was born to Ruth Virginia Williams on November 2, 1959 in Leesburg, Florida. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle who left this world peacefully on October 2, 2024, at the age of 64. Bernard was a ray of light in the lives of everyone who knew him, embodying the qualities of kindness, humor, and wisdom.

Bernard cultivated a deep love for music from an early age, leading him to play in a band during his youth. His passion for music never faded; he found joy in simply listening to the sounds of the Commodores' "Easy," Cameo's "Candy" or the Gap Band's "Outstanding." He always brought a smile and laughter to those around him.

He was a true free spirit who placed value, not in worldly possessions but in the simple pleasures of life. In his leisure time, he delighted in working on cars. His easygoing nature made him approachable and beloved, and his selfless and giving personality was evident in every aspect of his life. If he had it to give, he was the first to offer help to anyone in need and the last to seek recognition for his kindness.

In his later years, he became a deeply spiritual man, attending church regularly, sustaining an unwavering faith in God, which guided his life and actions. Although he had his own struggles in life, he instilled the values of compassion, love, and forgiveness in those he encountered, leading by example with his warm heart and generous spirit.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Virginia Williams and Rev. Clinton Roosevelt Powell, Sr, his brother James Thomas II, his daughter JaQuisa Luke, and his sister Loreatha Louise Williams. He is survived by his son Bryant Luke, granddaughters Unique Jones, Aralicia Marshall and Tyneisha McCullough, his grandson Gabriel Marshall and greatgrandchildren Jayceon McGrew-Baker, Ja'Kodi Perkins, Naomi Marshall and Wynter Marshall.

He will forever be remembered for his sage advice and positivity. Rest in peace, Bernard. Your caring heart and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know you.

My uncle was the coolest, most laid back, loving and kind guy. He will be remembered for his love of funk and R&B music like Cameo, the Gap Band and Earth Wind and Fire. He would give you the shirt off of his back if he had it to give, no questions asked. Wise and full of grace. RIP uncle Bernard.
