I have known Bernardo since he was a young boy. He lived on East Grant Hwy. with his mother and father. I lived with my family on Washington Street. Our houses (kinda) backed up to each other. At the time, I was in college, and I was home on break. One day, I was raking leaves in the back yard, and this young boy came from the woods behind, pushing through the weeds to introduce himself and to talk. Of course, our parents know each other, but I didn't know Bernardo. We spent the afternoon talking. I raked the leaves into a nice pile, and Bernardo would mess up the pile of leaves, spreading them back into the yard. But I liked him from the get go. We talked for a long time. For a young boy, I liked his curiosity, his extraverted nature, and his straightforward approach. We've been friends every since. Recently, he came to me to discuss an issue he was struggling with. So, we talked a lot during that period. Then, one day, I heard that he had passed. Just vanished. I am sad that he has departed this world so early. And, I miss him. I wish his family well.

I am so glad to of been able to become close friends with this big teddy bear. Wish I would of made more trips to popular grove to see him though. Going to miss our messenger chats about those Chicago Bears. I love you Marco.

This was just terrible news. I´m going to be praying for everyone that loved him to have peace, healing, and comfort. He was certainly one of a kind and a pretty remarkable guy.
