Bernice Meanor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 10, 2025.
Bernice Sylvia Meanor, affectionately known to many as Bernie, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, in Syracuse, NY, due to complications from dementia. Born on November 7, 1938, in McKees Rocks, PA, Bernie's life was marked by her loving nature, her spirited personality, and the laughter she brought into the lives of those around her.

Bernie graduated from Stowe High School in 1958. After graduation, she devoted her life to creating a warm and welcoming home while raising her son, Jimmie. Bernie was involved in the Presston community, where she was an advocate for improvements to her village and a member of the Hose Company #5 Auxiliary. She was the kind of neighbor everyone counted on for support, a friendly chat, or a hearty laugh.

Her marriage to the late James L. Meanor was an enduring love and partnership. Together they raised a family that was the center of Bernie's world. Although James preceded her in death, their son, James, daughter-in-law, Dena, and grandchildren, Alexandra with Jim Palma, and James (Jimmie), carry forward the legacy of love that Bernie and her husband built.

Bernie was the oldest of her siblings and is now reunited in rest with her brother Andrew Obusek and sister Roberta Kamenski, whom she dearly missed. Her family extended far beyond her immediate relatives, with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who all experienced the breadth of her kindness and generous spirit.

A woman of varied interests, Bernie had a zest for life. She loved to shoot pool, play cards and games, and she could roller-skate and dance with her late husband Jim, with a grace that seemed to defy gravity. Her love for vacationing in Florida was well-known, as she cherished the warmth of the sun and the time spent there with her family.

Bernie's sense of humor was unmatched, often leaving her family and friends in stitches with her quick wit. She was the life of any gathering, and her absence will leave a void that cannot be filled. Yet, those who knew her will continue to feel her presence in the stories shared and the memories cherished.

As we say goodbye to Bernie, we celebrate a life lived fully and with great love. Her spirit, laughter, and love will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. Bernie's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her story will continue to be told through the lives of her family and the many people she touched.

Bernie's life was a beautiful portrait of love, family, and community. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. May she rest in peace, knowing that her life was a beacon of joy and kindness in a world that cherished her presence.
