Ken,
Bernice June was your soft angel, who loved you fiercely and loyally. She was a gentle warrior, who protected what was hers, always vigilant but ever gracious. Her fulfillment came from your love and your gift of children. I thank God that you kept her safe.
Bernice told me once that you and she had decided that you did not want to collect things; instead, you would really live, i.e., have fun. When I was in Tuscaloosa, I witnessed her passion for life: food, sights, scents, laughter, optimism, cosmopolitan innocence, devotion to you. Her sweetness. Her kindness. From your stories of late, I understand that her avidity for "fun" remained healthy until the end. How lucky you were to have known such a woman!
I considered her more of a sister than a friend. I was blessed to have known her, too. I only hope that this precious lady died in your arms.

She was my favorite Aunt. Always fun and loved life and everything about it. We had the best times and created some of the best memories. She will be missed and always loved by me and all of those who knew her.

Bernice was my wife for 51 years. I miss her so. She enjoyed life indeed, had a zest for living. A person noted for her kindness and sweetness, she was loved by all who really knew her. She was the love of my life. I shall love you forever. Good night, baby.

Ken, i am so deeply sorry to read about Bernice. I saw her a number of times recently at Publix and at DCH where I was being treated for a broken arm and she was having XRays. As always we talked for awhile and enjoyed our conversation very much. She told me about her heart problems and sounded so optirmistic. I will try and call you soon. As as we sometime say in the Jewish faith,' may her memory be a blessing to you and all who loved her.' Jerry Rosenberg
