Bernice Taylor Morgan

Bernice Taylor Morgan, 99, died Oct. 12, 2009, at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin. Born Bernice Taylor, Feb. 23, 1910, on the family farm in Neosho, Mo., Bernice was the second of seven children born to Melville and Annie Taylor. Bernice went to Hammer School through 8th grade and graduated from Neosho High school. She married Aulton Morgan in 1934. Bernice worked at the Pet Milk Company and later at Camp Crowder, until 1942, when the Morgans moved to Luke Field Air Force Base in Phoenix, Ariz., where they worked until the end of World War II. She worked for Blue Cross, AiResearch and Allied Signal in Phoenix, and retired in 1973. Bernice and Aulton moved to Cottonwood, Ariz., after retirement where Aulton passed away in 1991. Bernice returned to Missouri in 1993. She was a member of the St. Paul's Methodist Church in Joplin. Bernice loved Arizona and traveled throughout the state. She enjoyed having her siblings, nieces and nephews visit and she and Aulton gave grand tours of Phoenix, Flagstaff, Cottonwood, and the Grand Canyon. She was an outdoors woman and often accompanied her husband on camping trips in the desert. Bernice will be missed by her brother, Ralph Taylor; and her many nieces and nephews. There will be no service. Interment will be in the Clarkdale cemetery in Cottonwood.
