Bernice Sally Greene Slagle BRISTOL, Va. Bernice Sally Greene Slagle age 85, died Sept. 10, 2011. She was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Boone, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Esther Greene of Watauga, N.C. She is the last surviving member of her family of seven brothers and sisters. Bernice was employed by Sperry Univac for many years and later owned and operated Aunt Sally's Restaurant in Chilhowie, Va. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Malcolm (husband, Harold); son, Billy D. Slagle (wife, Kathy) of Bristol, Tenn. and son, Gregory A. Slagle, of Bristol, Va.; grandchildren, Kimberley Rearden, of Wilmington, N.C., Sgt. Christopher Malcolm, of Eglin AFB, Fla., Todd Slagle, of Bristol, Va., Bryan Slagle, of Lake City, Tenn., Katlin Slagle, of Bristol, Va; and great-grandchildren, Sgt. Justin Mays, of Osan, Korea, Markaya Slagle, of Bristol, Va. Special thanks to her many special friends at Thomas Jefferson Senior Apartments, Dr. Fred Greear, and her many home health care nurses. Funeral services will be Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Akard Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be Monday Sept. 12, 2011, at 1 p.m. in Eastern Heights Presbyterian Cemetery.
