Bert Challis Obituary
Norwood - Challis Bert "Chili Challis"- Was a thirty year comedy veteran. He was a staff writer for the Tonight show with Jay Leno, a Bob and Tom favorite. He was a teacher and mentor for budding comedians around the world, and famous for his comedy do-jo workshop.

Chili passed on October 9th after suffering a sudden illness that escalated quickly. He was at peace surrounded by family. Services will be held Monday October 15. The viewing will be from 6-8 pm, with the service beginning at 8 pm at Tredway-Pollitt-Staver Funeral Home in Norwood, Ohio.

I feel incredibly lucky to have met Chili. He gave me the confidence and the platform to get started on my comedy career. He believed in me before I believed in myself. Thank you Chili for the tremendous impact you've had on so many creatives and the comedy community. I will always remember you and your unwavering dedication to the craft! You inspired everyone that was lucky enough to take your class. Rest in Peace, you will be greatly missed my friend.

We hope the deer and highway motorists are all friendly in Heaven. Your dad was the BEST at starting & weaving a story and surprising everyone by coming back to it much later in the show. We lived in the same apartment complex in Norwood in the 80s. He was the funniest stand-up comedian I've ever saw. Bizarre in many ways, but his show was the best. If this still applies, Vicky and Stacy, I'm sorry for your loss. Bert was one of a kind.
