Bertha Hulings Obituary

Bertha T. (Broman) Hulings, 97, of East Smithfield, Pa., passed away on Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 at the Sayre House in Sayre, Pa. She was the wife of the late Harold W. Hulings who passed away on Feb. 27, 1969.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, Pa. on Sunday night, Sept. 10, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Monday morning Sept. 11, 2006, from 9 to 10 a.m. The funeral service will be held after the viewing at 10 a.m. Rev. William Lusk will be officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Ridgeway, Pa.

Mrs. Hulings was born on Sept. 18, 1908 in Wilcox, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Gus and Anna (Anderson) Broman. Bertha was a homemaker, but more than that she was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She attended the 1st Methodist Church in East Smithfield, loved to crochet, and always grew a garden and flowers when she was able.

Mrs. Hulings loved her family more than anything. They include her son Wade E. (Sandra) Hulings of Meriden, Ct., her daughters Marjorie A. (Wayne) Scouten and Janice J. Robison, both of East Smithfield, Pa., Geraldine L. (Howard) Krieg of Wilcox, Pa., Carolyn A. (James) Yount of Southington, Ct., 21 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, daughter-in-laws Jean and Paula Hulings, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hulings was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, sons Harold B. and William L. Hulings, who both passed away in 2005, her daughter Barbara Elizabeth Hulings, who passed away in 1931, granddaughter Linda Scouten, her brother Gus Broman and sister Helen Lander.
