I had the priviledge of working for and with Madame Justice Bertha Wilson from 1983 to 1991 and I never worked for anyone that came even close to Justice Wilson. In my humble opinion she was simply a wonderful lady. It was a terrible shock to me when she confided that she was retiring. It took me years to get over the loss of this irreplaceable lady.

I was very sorry to learn of your loss. Bertha Wilson was a treasure to our profession; and she will be sadly missed by many. This woman, with stalwart determination as a true trailblazer, continually remembered the plight of those less fortunate in Canadian society. Her courage and compassion was impenetrable in her jurisprudence. It was a privilege for me to serve with her as a member of the Canadian Bar Association's Gender Equality Task Force. May all of you be comforted by warm and loving family memories at this time of sorrow and loss.

What a great lady and a leader for the Canadian Justice system. I know I am just one of the many women that admired this wonderful woman.

My condolences to your family.

This amazing woman has inspired so many to follow in her footsteps. Because of her and other women pioneers, young Canadian women can dream of reaching so much higher, even to sitting on the highest court in the land.

Bertha Wilson articulated so many Canadian values in her judgments - balancing compassion with the expectation that we all take responsibility for our actions.

She will be missed.
