Bertram Channick Bertram Channick was a long time resident of Philadelphia. He attended Overbrook High, before getting his BS degree from Princeton University. After attending Boston University School of Medicine where he earned his MD, he entered the navy as a lieutenant for the Battalion Surgeon 5th Cavalry Regiment during the Korean War during which he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart Medal. Following discharge from the Navy, he completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Philadelphia General Hospital. Following his residency, he was appointed Chief of Endocrinology at Temple University Medical School, a position he held for 30 years. He was a revered teacher, a sought after clinician, and a pioneering researcher in hypertension and thyroid disease. He retired as Professor Emeritus of Medicine in 2010. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Beverly, whom he was married to for 57 years. He is survived by his brother, Stanley, 3 children Steven (Deborah), Richard (Colleen), James (Melanie) and 10 grandchildren. Burial will be private.
