Beryl Barlow Obituary

Published by Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Feb. 2, 2025.
BARLOW, Beryl

Beryl James Barlow, proud husband of Beverly Joan Barlow and father of Jim Barlow, of Snellville, Georgia, passed on January 23, 2025 peacefully in his sleep. He was born in The Dalles, Oregon in 1935 to Raymond and Rachael Barlow. The family lineage can be traced back to the 1st settlers crossing the Oregon Trail. Beryl was educated at grade schools, Roosevelt Jr. High School, and University High school before graduating from the University of Oregon in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a military veteran serving in the US Marines from 1954-1957 and honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He married Beverly Joan Blackstone in 1960. He was President of the Beaverton Area Jaycees (Oregon), 1967-1968, and then Secretary of the Oregon Jaycees, 1968-1969. Beryl worked hard to support his family and retired from a lengthy career with the Georgia Pacific Corporation in 1996 after relocating to Atlanta in 1982. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather to Beverly, Jim, and only grandchild, Rachel Nicole. He was always proud of their accomplishments and said he was honored that they were his family. He will be fondly remembered for his wit and interesting life stories he shared. We will miss him but trust we will all be together again.

Beryl has been part of our extended family here in Oregon for all of my adult life. I have known Bev for all of my life. Her mother was my mother's closest friend & Bev was like a big sister to me.
Sincere & loving sympathy to all the Barlows.
May Beryl rest with the angels.
