Mary Rosenkrantz Tolchinsky, 91, of La Jolla, Calif., passed away peacefully Friday.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio, but moved to New York City as a young woman, where she met her first husband, Nathan Rosenkrantz. The couple moved to Schuylkill Haven and then Pottsville, where Mr. Rosenkrantz owned and operated Argo Knitting Mills of Schuylkill Haven with his two brothers, Al and Phil Rosenkrantz.

She and her husband lovingly raised their two children, Harvey and Robert, in Pottsville, until Mr. Rosenkrantz passed away in 1965.

She then relocated to New York City, where she met her second husband, Morris Tolchinsky, and together they moved to La Jolla. Mr. Tolchinsky passed away in 1987.

Mrs. Tolchinsky was a kind and gentle person and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who valued family closeness and connection above all else.

Surviving are her children, Harvey and his wife, Jane Rosenkrantz, La Jolla, and Robert and his wife, Karen Rosenkrantz, Brookline, Mass.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for relatives and friends will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from Lord-Bixler Funeral Home Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Friends of Hazon Yeshaya, 2001 E. Seventh St., Brooklyn, N.Y. 11223, phone 866-811-6383 or visit https://www.hazonyeshaya.org/donationusa.html

I will always have fond memories of Aunt Mary and glad to have seen her the times I came to San Diego. I recall, many years ago, Aunt Mary and I going to Horton Plaza for shopping and lunch. She was always sincere and kind. Loving thoughts always. Barbara (Littman) Testa
