I was very sad to hear about Betsy's death. I had not seen her in years, decades in fact, but we knew each other once. When we were both younger with what seemed like path's of endless possibilities ahead. Those path's took different directions after college, but I thought hers would be at least as long as my own.

My sympathy goes out to her mother, Martha. Losing a child, at any age, is a terrible tragedy. I don't know the status of others of Betsy's family, but my sympathy goes to them as well.

Again, I am very sorry.

Betsy and I attended East High at the same time. I was a year ahead of her. It seemed like my class and her class just intermingled with each other and we were one big class. I had not seen Betsy in many, many years until one day I walked into Food City and there she was. We became reacquainted and did a quick catching up with where have you been, do you have children and grandchildren, who have you seen from school. I even shared with her that I was back at East as a teacher. It was a real joy to talk with her. We saw each other 2 or 3 more times after that initial visit and shared stories about our cats and tips about dieting and healthy eating. Needless to say when I saw the paper today I was shocked to see Betsy's name. I am so very sorry for your loss and I know as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, and Sister that she will truly be missed. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
