I am really shocked that her immense work in women´s reproductive health was not mentioned. Her surgeon husband would come home with heartbreaking stories of woman before Roe vs Wade. She was brilliant shown by being chosen as valedictorian of Hamlin when women were scarce on University campuses. She dove in and worked tirelessly to bring women´s reproductive health to Minnesota, Planned Parenthood and founded Naral. We cannot forget all the wonderful generous woman. She looked after me even after I divorced her nephew. She was a huge loss for me. I didn´t have mentors when I moved back to MN. She still inspires me.

Betty was a truly inspiring woman. She did not fit the image of a strident feminist and she helped us reach people that we may not have reached by her gentle but strong demeaner. She was soft spoken with a warm, charming smile. She lead many of us with a dignity and purpose that made us all feel confident we could join her in her quest for reproductive freedom. She will be greatly missed.

I am honored to have been one of the many volunteers who worked for Betty at ARC. She taught us well and was a true inspiration. My heart goes out to her family. You are in my prayers.

Betty was an early and stalwart leader in the Minnesota movement for reproductive choice. She was also a consistently gracious, generous person who was very kind to a young political reporter 25 years ago. That kindness will be long remembered. My condolences to all who will miss Betty. I certainly will.

Betty was an incredible woman. I had the opportunity to work with her when I was on staff at Minnesota NARAL. She inspired me daily with her commitment to women's issues and her fascinating stories. I'm sure I join thousands of women who thank her for all she's done for us. She will be missed.
