Chester Jones

Chester Jones, affectionately known as Lovey, made his peaceful transition on April 19, 2017 at Methodist Southlake Hospital in Merrillville, IN after a lengthy illness. He was born to the union of Chester and Mary Jane Gaffney-Jones on February 8, 1955. He was formerly employed at United States Steel in Blast Furnace #13. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Mary Jane Gaffney-Jones and brother Robert Gaffney, Sr. He is survived by: daughter, Tikina (Cornell) Tucker; sister, Paulette (Rev. Ronald) Cummings; nephews, Robert (Taya) Gaffney, Jr. of Grand Prairie, TX, Terrell Jones of Harvey, IL, Darnell (Alisha) Gaffney and Jason Gaffney of Merrillville, IN; special cousin, Sydney (Sirretta) Jones; grandchildren, Cornell III, Tikina, Zechariah, Timothy, and Zaire Tucker. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 9:30. Funeral services will be at 11:00am. Professional services rendered by Powell-Coleman Funeral Home, 3200 W. 15th Ave., Gary, IN. Interment, Fern Oaks Cemetery.
