Betty Creed Knoll Obituary

Betty Louise Creed Knoll (Pooboo) September 29, 1929 – August 27, 2025

Betty Louise Creed Knoll passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, just weeks shy of her 96th birthday. Born on September 29, 1929, in Missouri, Betty's early life was marked by resilience and strength. After the passing of her mother at a young age, she and her beloved brother Desmond were raised by their father, Yewell Creed, and stepmother Pauline.

In her youth, Betty moved to Bell, California, where fate-and a helpful introduction from her brother-led her to the love of her life, Paul Melvin "Mel" Knoll. After their marriage, Mel pursued a career in pharmacy, and Betty became a visionary in her own right. Long before it became fashionable, she had a passion for home design and renovation, buying, transforming, and selling homes in Pasadena, CA. Her talent and eye for beauty led to two of her homes being featured in Architectural Digest-a testament to her unique style and fearless creativity.

Betty also had a sharp business sense. She envisioned and helped create gift stores in Mel's pharmacy storefronts-charming spaces designed so that ladies could shop while waiting for their prescriptions. Her idea added a personal and thoughtful touch to the business, and it became one of many ways she blended practicality with elegance.

Betty and Mel raised four daughters, and family remained central to her life. In her later years, she settled in Indian Wells, CA, before moving to Placerville, where she shared a home filled with love and laughter alongside her devoted grandson Todd Byer, his wife Denise, and their children-AJ (wife Abbie), Audrey, Clayton, Caroline, and Josh. A special light in her life came with the birth of her great-great-granddaughter, Bailey, who was born on Betty's 94th birthday-an incredible, full-circle moment in a life so richly lived.

She was deeply loved and supported by her grandson and his family Todd (Denise), AJ (Abbie), Audrey, Clayton, Caroline and Josh Byer, her grandson Desmond (Marisa), great-granddaughters Paige and Sofia Dahlgren, and grandson Matthew (Ashley) and great-grandsons Bode, Jaxon, and Boston Gladhart, daughter Denise Knoll and friend for life Barbara Marshall.

Betty's legacy is one of elegance, grit, warmth, and unwavering love. She was a woman of great taste, incredible strength, and a beautifiul heart. She will be deeply missed by those who truly knew and cherished her.

A memorial service will be held on October 11, 2025.
