Betty Crocker
1946 - 2017
COOPERS MILLS - Betty Crocker left this life Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, surrounded by her four children. Betty was born May 7, 1946, the youngest child of Delbert F. and Inez R. Sproul Brann.
In her early years she sold Grit newspapers, and was very active in Grange and 4H, winning many ribbons for crafts and livestock. She attended Wiscasset High School, graduating with honors. She briefly attended University of Maine in Orono before marrying her first husband and starting her family.
She was a great Mom who stayed home and baked cookies. Her second marriage, she traveled and lived overseas and in the South before returning to Maine. She started working for the state and retired.
She loved music and she used to crank the volume on the back roads with a full car singing to her favorites. She loved the ocean and was always the last one out of the water. She loved to read, and baked Christmas candies for all of her friends and coworkers, and delivered them. She loved Christmas time and had an extensive Disney and ugly sweatshirt collection that she wore during the holidays.
She is survived by her four children, Tracy Emerson, James Griffin and his wife Gina, Sally Crocker and her boyfriend Scott Williams, and Adam Crocker and his wife Angela; and a brother, Freeman Brann. She had three grandchildren, Tyler and Michael Emerson, and Hayle Williams. She was predeceased by three sisters and brothers.
The family would like to thank Sheepscot Health Center, and Maine General Hospice. A special thanks to Hank Aho, Curt Whitehouse and Susan Gerry, for the love they showed our Mom all these years.
Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives, 198 Western Ave., in Augusta.

Betty had a way of endearing herself to everyone she interacted with. She was strong, smart, and loving. She was a fine example of how to tackle life. I am grateful I got to know her for a little while.

She was the best Mom any kid could hope to know growing up. All the kids at school called her Mom. She will be missed by so many, including her many adoptive "kids". I love her and miss her as if she was my own Mother. I know she is watching us kids now, making sure we stay out of trouble. Love you Mom.

Our hearts are broken and we are very saddened over the passing of our dear loving friend and co-worker. Betty was a joy to be with and had a heart of gold for everybody, a strong spirit and great gift of humor. We have many years of wonderful memories of her and shall always cherish them.

To Betty's Family: Betty was a dear lady who sprouted compassion always. She was fun to work with, had a wonderful wacky sense of humor, seeing the ridiculous in things. A kind lady, may her spirit be at peace.
