Betty Foshee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 9, 2017.
Betty Sue Respess Foshee, age 82, passed away surrounded by family at Diversicare of Batesville, MS on October 6, 2017. She endured various illnesses over her lifetime and died of complications of leukemia, which she fought with treatments at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center for about 14 years.

Sue was born September 21, 1935 in Lambert, MS to the late Ernest Clinton Respess and Julia Williams Respess. Upon her marriage to George H. Foshee in 1955, the couple moved to Houston, TX, where she lived until returning to her Mississippi family in 2016. Sue worked for Hastik & Associates and its predecessor companies for almost 40 years.

She was an active, dedicated member of Sagemont Church, where she especially enjoyed volunteering in the bookstore, the church Neatniks Crew, VBS, and Sagemont Women. Sue was previously a member of First Baptist Church and volunteered at Spring Branch Faith Center Mission where her numerous activities included transporting and helping to feed members of diverse ethnic congregations. Sue and George ministered to the disadvantaged, all the way from innocent children to prisoners.

In addition to her parents, Sue is preceded in death by her husband, George H. Foshee, to whom she was married for 40 years. Also preceding her in death were her siblings, Hobert E. Respess, J.W. Respess, D. Rebecca Manley, and Linda K. Griffin.

Sue is survived by four siblings: Charley Respess (Linda Jane) of Crowder, MS; Lucy Kairit (Ken) and Yvonne Hosler (Andy) of Batesville; and Greg Respess (Sylvia) of Bartlett, TN; many precious nieces and nephews, her church families and special friends, Joyce Hill and Mary Pederson.

There will be a memorial service honoring Sue's life at 2:00 with visitation beginning at 1:00 on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Sagemont Church, 11300 S. Sam Houston Pkwy E., Houston, TX 77089.
