Betty Green Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 22, 2025.
Betty June "Boots" Green, 93, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, in Alcoa, Tennessee. Born on May 2, 1932, in Compton, California, Betty lived a life marked by creativity, compassion, and an unwavering spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She always had a knack for making a welcoming home wherever she lived, whether it was in California, Colorado, Nevada, Montana, or Tennessee.

Betty was the beloved daughter of Griffin and Estelle Jacobs and grew up with her siblings Marlon and Reno. She also had a sister Reba that passed on before Betty was born. She carried the nickname "Boots" given to her by her husband James, for reasons only known to the two of them.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband James with whom she shared many cherished years as well as her older brother Marlon. Betty is survived by her only child Debra and son-in-law Ed; her treasured granddaughter Kasey; and her brother Reno plus the many family and friends she met along the way. Her family was a source of immense pride and joy throughout her life.

A gifted artist at heart, Betty found deep fulfillment in drawing and painting. Her passion for art was more than a hobby-it was an extension of how she saw the world: full of beauty, color, and possibility. Through every brushstroke and sketch, she expressed not only talent but also the warmth and depth of her character.

Those fortunate enough to cross paths with Betty often described her as an awesome lady-kind-hearted, wise, and always ready to listen. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen and valued. Whether through a quiet conversation or a shared laugh, Betty reminded people that their feelings mattered and that they had something meaningful to offer the world.

Her presence radiated positivity. She approached life with laughter, independence, and an indomitable can-do attitude. Whether it was determination or sheer stubbornness-perhaps both-Betty never gave up. Her resilience inspired those around her to believe in themselves just as fiercely as she believed in them.

Betty Green will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who were privileged to know her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts she touched-with kindness that uplifted others and wisdom that guided them forward.

May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing and continue to inspire those who carry forward the light she so generously shared.

I wanted to send my heartfelt condolences to my soul sister, Deb and her family. You see I met Boots 50 years ago. Wow! She was the kindest and gentle soul that I ever met at 10 years of age. I think she picked me to be her daughters best friend. She smiled and her gorgeous blue eyes lit up the room. She skipped with glee! She was so tender with me when I spilled milk at lunch one day. She taught me right then and there that accidents happen. No worries. I was not use to that kind of gentle spirit. She included me in all the outings she and Deb would share. She even got us matching vinyl windbreaker. Generousity was her cup of tea! She was artistic and so talented. She believed in me the lost young girl who had been through more than she ever discussed. I will forever remember her and love her daughter, my soul sister always. I hope Boots knew how she impacted my life.
