Betty Jane Wolsey Gregson, age 91, passed away in Riverton, Utah on February 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Edward L. and Merelda Bennett Wolsey. She was the oldest daughter in a family of six children and was raised in Kimball.
She was sealed to Gordon S. Gregson in the Cardston Alberta temple in 1950. They started their family soon after, with Dennis and David. While expecting her 3rd son Kim, they moved to the United States in 1955, where they had their remaining 4 daughters, Leslie, Julie, Sue, and Jackie. They bought a home in Holladay Utah in 1968 and resided there on and off until 2020. Their home was known as the “Gregson Hotel” because she and Gordon welcomed so many family members and friends to live with them.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and was happiest when surrounded by her family and considered being a mother her most important calling. She was a wonderful homemaker. She had a very artistic touch, mind, and soul. She painted, crocheted, and cross-stitched. She was a talented seamstress and had an eye for decorating.
They later met Thanin (Nin) Tanasuthseri and his sister Kwan (later Wong) in 1980. They became treasured friends and loved as family. Betty and Gordon considered Kwan’s children as their own grandchildren.
Betty served in multiple positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a woman of tremendous faith and had a strong testimony of and loved the Lord, Jesus Christ.
After the passing of Gordon in 2002, Betty went on to beat breast cancer and served as a proselytizing missionary in Macon, Georgia for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints at the age of 74.
Betty’s positive attitude, warm smile, and kind heart made her beloved by many. Family and friends alike, turned to her for counsel and advice, and relied upon her often because we knew her prayers of faith could help us move our mountains.
She is survived by children, Lisa Gregson, Murray, UT; David B. (Polly)Gregson, Fort Wayne, IN; CarolLynn Gregson, Holladay, UT; Leslie Alvey (Doug), Gilbert, AZ; Julie Hardy, Bluffdale, UT; Sue Roquemore (Brian), Houston, TX; and Jackie Bailey (Jon), Riverton, UT; 33 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren (plus one on the way), and 2 great-great children (and two more on the way). Her Sister Ina Dixon, Salt Lake; and Marlene Neilson (Don) of Saratoga Springs, UT.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, sons Dennis and Kim, brothers Edward and Ardell Wolsey and sister Wilma Nielsen.
A viewing will be held on February 19, 2022, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Stone Ridge Ward located at 12070 S. Laurel Chase Drive, Riverton, Utah 84065.
