Betty Hodyniak Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 29, 2025.
Machesney Park - Betty Jane Hodyniak passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 23, 2025, in Machesney Park, Illinois. She was born on January 27, 1937, in Hebron, Wisconsin, to Halsey (Hallie) and Eva (Harris) Wintermute.

On November 26, 1958, Betty married Ronald G. Hodyniak Sr. in Jefferson, Wisconsin. Together they raised three sons: Ronald George Jr., Steven John (Shellie), and Michael Allen (Barbara). The family operated a dairy farm near Watertown, Wisconsin, before relocating to Machesney Park, Illinois, in the mid-1970s. Betty worked as an assembler for several years while Ronald Sr. was employed as a welder at Eclipse, Inc.

Betty's life was defined by her kindness, resilience, and devotion to her family. Her years on the farm instilled a strong work ethic and a deep sense of care for those she loved. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding joy in their visits and accomplishments. A constant presence at their sporting events and milestones, Betty's unwavering support left an indelible mark on their lives.

She is survived by her brother James Wintermute of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin; her sons Ronald Jr., Steven (Shellie), and Michael (Barbara), all of the Loves Park/Machesney Park area; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Stanley, Dean, and John; her husband Ronald Sr.; and her longtime companion Erwin Zenke.

Betty's cremated remains will be placed with her husband during a private family ceremony on February 4. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 7, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Riverside Community Church, 6816 N. 2nd St., Machesney Park, Illinois. Guests are invited to share stories and refreshments as Betty's life is fondly remembered.

Betty's warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
