Ms. Preston was a graduate of West Coast High School in Fresno, California, and attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. She received her RN in Nursing from Cleveland State Community College, Cleveland, Tennessee, and was a clinical nurse for 30 years. She was employed by Humana as a compliance quality and finance RN servicing the state of Florida, telecommuting from her home.
Renee’s medical passion was in Long-Term Care and she specialized in the elder population’s medical rights and care in nursing facilities around the country. She wrote several articles on elder care and was a motivational speaker for care-givers, especially those who care for Alzheimers patients.
She is survived by her daughter, Melody Nicole (Nikki) Preston of Cleveland, Tennessee; sister, Gail Cato Jacobs (Daniel) of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, David Cato of Spartanburg, South Carolina; nephew, Jeffrey Miller (Crystal); aunt and uncle, Reverend C. L. and Joyce Leonard; uncle and aunt, K. Wayne and Louise Johnson; aunt, Moffie Simmons Cato; and cousins in Georgia, Mississippi, Washington, and Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Renee Cato Preston Memorial Fund held with the Spartanburg County Foundation, 424 East Kennedy Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The gifts will benefit the Kidney Disease Research and Assistance Fund, Calexico, California.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Buford Street United Methodist Church, 120 East Buford Street, Gaffney, SC 29340, on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at 1:30PM.
