Betty May Kesterson died November 9, 2005 in Escondido, California. Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Open visitation will be from 2-8 on Friday November 18, with family receiving friends from 6-8 at Powers Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Pastor Robert Sauser will officiate. Betty was born on May 12, 1920 in Princeton, Iowa to Viola Electa and Floyd M. Airhardt. At the age of 2 ½, when her mother passed away, Betty was adopted by Ella Potter of Davenport, Iowa. On May 4, 1940 Betty was united in marriage to Arlo J. Gerald (Jim) Kesterson in Tabor, Iowa. To this union six children were born. Betty lived in numerous towns in Iowa throughout her life. She was a homemaker, did seamstress work and childcare. After Arlo's death in 1981, Betty moved to Escondido, California for the remainder of her life. Survivors include four sons: Robert and family of Atlanta, Georgia; James (wife Marci) of Escondido, California; Danny (wife Mary) of Oskaloosa; Arlo (wife Dawn) of Portland, Oregon; two daughters: Sharon (husband Paul) Royster of Creston; Robin Harned and family of Creston; fifteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Virginia and two brothers: Robert and Francis.
