Betty Joan Lynn Gregory Roark ABINGDON, Va. Mrs. Betty Joan Lynn Gregory Roark, age 49, a well-known resident of Abingdon, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 14, 1960, in Abingdon, a daughter of the late William Ernest Gregory and Joyce Imogene McCray Gregory. She lived in the Abingdon area her entire life and worked at several restaurants, Greendale Home For The Aged and, most recently, at Cargo Oil Company. She was member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest "Boodie" Gregory. Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Burnis "Ronnie" Roark; two daughters, Brandi Jo Booher and husband Mark, and Miranda Kelly Roark; her first grandchild expected in March; her mother, Joyce Imogene Gregory; five sisters, Ann Parris and husband Buddy, Teresa Wilson and husband Ralph, Levonda Roark and husband Gary, Jackie Gregory, and Scarlet Atwood and husband Jackie; two brothers, Steven Gregory and wife Donna, and Terry Greogry and wife Lisa; special nephews and great-nephews, Hunter Gregory, Tyler Gregory, Chaz Gregory, and Zack Gregory; as well as several other nieces, nephews, and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Paul Price and Rev. Junior Roark officiating. Pallbearers will be Alex Anderson, Roger Crigger, Adam Wise, Ralph Wilson, Charlie Wilson, and Gary Roark. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Frost Funeral Home.
