Betty Stefka Obituary

Betty (White) Stefka, age 69, of Leroy, passed away Wednesday evening, July 10, 2024, at Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas surrounded by her family.

Per her wishes, her body will be donated to science for medical research at The University of Texas Medical School of Houston. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.

Betty was born November 18, 1954, in Gatesville, Texas to Katherine (Summers) and William Frank "Scoot" White. She attended schools at Gatesville and Connally and was a 1972 graduate of Connally High School. She married her sweetheart William "Bill" Stefka on October 27, 1989 and they resided in Leroy. She worked as a Deputy at the McLennan County Sheriff department and retired from Providence Hospital in 2017.

Betty enjoyed playing bingo, mowing her yard, cooking (she was an amazing cook), watching all three of her boys dirt track race, visiting and talking with friends, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Her family was the most important thing to her, and she loved them fiercely. To know Betty was to love Betty. She did not mince any words. However, she would do anything for anyone. Acts of service is how she often expressed her love. She was loved by all, and she knew how to have a good time.

She is preceded in death by her parents Katherine and William, stepfather Kenneth Kind, sister Norma Upchurch, brothers Kenneth White and Donnie White, nephew Eddie White and mother and father-in-law.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years Bill Stefka of Leroy; her children, Tommy Kirkpatrick of Leroy, Kris Kirkpatrick and wife Terrie of Gholson, Benji Kirkpatrick and wife Tammi of Axtell, and David Stefka and wife Lynelle of Axtell. A brother, William White and wife Aline of Ross. Many grandchildren including Hayden, Sarah, Carter, Jace, Gage, Koby, Amanda and her spouse Chance, and Johnathon Edward. Great grandchildren include Jace, Kristen and Zane Lynn. She also leaves behind several nephews, nieces, brother-in-law, and other beloved family members- some blood and some not.

Betty will be deeply missed by all, however we are so grateful she is no longer in pain.
