Betty Ann Stevens

BETTY ANN STEVENS, age 83, died at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover, New Jersey, on Monday, March 23, following a prolonged illness. She was a resident of Flanders, New Jersey, where she lived over the past year with her son, Jeffrey, & his family. Mrs. Stevens was born February 6, 1926, in New York City, to the late Charles A. and Elizabeth Wright Slosson and resided in Greenwich, Connecticut. She attended the Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, and the New York School of Art in Manhattan. She married Jerome Stevens on June 21, 1947, & remained so until his passing on May 21, 1966. She wed Don. E. Stevens on May 7, 1971, in San Francisco. The couple had several residences over the years that included: LaJolla, California; Hebron, New Hampshire; Paris, France and Pinehurst, North Carolina. Betty was an active member of the "Riverside Board" and was a world traveler throughout her life. Betty is survived by her son, Jerome of Bangkok, Thailand, her daughter, Susan B. Moore of La Mesa, California, and her son and wife, Jeffrey and Susan Stevens of Flanders, New Jersey; two grandchildren, Michael Moore of La Mesa and Kelsea Stevens of Flanders. In addition, she has two step-grandchildren, Julianne Schmelter of Tampa, Florida, and Ethan Aronoff of New York City. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don, of 37 years who died in Pinehurst this past June 2008. The family will hold a private memorial service for Betty in Hebron, New Hampshire, in early summer. In lieu of flowers, her family asks for donations to their local hospices.
