So sorry for your loss...Mrs. Tombs was the Dean of girls when I attended PMHS 87-89. She was on my mind this morning and I just wondered what became of her...so I googled her name. She really helped me out when I was there. I know she only sleeps now...hope to see you on the other side with the Lord! Respectfully

Mrs. Toombs was a wonderful woman. I remember her always taking the time out to talk to me when I needed someone to listen. I also worked for her during one of my free periods. My prayers are with your family.

I am very sorry to hear of her passing. She and my mother became very close during my high school years. How ironic that she passed on my mother's 88th birthday and my mother passed the very next day. I'm sure the 2 of them are catching up on old times. Mrs. Toombs was one person who believed in me, when I didn't even believe in myself. I have always remembered how she tried to help me through my troubling years. Rest in Peace Mrs. Toombs.

In 1970 at Southport High School, Mrs. Toombs believed in me when I felt other teachers didn't. She encouraged me and in 1972, selected me for the "Crisco" award—that set me on a college-bound course that changed my life! God Bless you Mrs. Toombs, you will stay in my heart forever.

As a 97 PMHS grad, I spent many hours in Mrs. Toombs office, usually for dress code violations :-). She would always kind of roll her eyes and have me call my mom to bring other clothes. When I had other issues, she was extremely kind and understanding. Sometimes she was hard on me, but I think that she was always fair. My thoughts and prayers to her family. She was a wonderful lady.

I considered Betty Toombs as one of my best friends and worked with her at PMHS for many years. I remember going out to eat with Betty and others every Friday night for several years. She was truly dedicated to the students there and touched many lives.

Betty was a true inspiration to me, I worked in her office and she helped me deal greatly with the loss of my father when I was only 15! Without her help and guidance there is no telling what would have become of my life. She was and is a true spirit and I thank her for everything she did for me and all us of us kids! I wish that every counselor had her compassion! We loved and will miss you Betty!
