Betty Elizabeth Woodward

Betty Elizabeth Woodward Lakeland - On May 10th, 2023, our angel on earth, Betty E Woodward, got her wings and went to walk with the angels in heaven. She was 92 years old.

Betty was born in June of 1930 to Mary and Henry Baker in Harrisburg, Pa. and graduated from Susquehanna Township in 1948. She later married Robert 'Bob' Woodward in 1958 and with his flying prowess prompted Betty to obtain her pilots license in 1962. She loved flying, including trips to Hawaii, Jamaica and her favorite, the Bahamas.

Betty longed for a family and after losing two infant sons, they went on to adopt a baby girl, Julie, in 1965, who quickly became the apple of her eye. Betty would often recall of the Saturdays they spent together at Maas Brothers shopping, eating lunch and ending with sweets at the candy counter!

After moving to Florida in 1970, Betty received her Real Estate license in 1973 and went on to have an illustrious professional career serving as the first female president of the Lakeland Association of Realtors in 1980. As a two-time president (1994), she also brokered her own real estate company, where she flourished and secured her name as an innovative leader in LAR. She received Realtor Emeritus from the National Association of Realtors in 2013 and was inducted into the Lakeland Association of Realtors Hall of Fame in 2015! Betty finished her distinguished 46-year career with Caldwell banker in 2019.

After the move to Florida, she traded in her pilot's license for some boating shoes, and enjoyed many trips with friends, cruising up the St. Johns River, hanging out in their slip at Harbourside in Long Boat Key (before the Grouper runs), or again, the Bahamas!

She was an active member of St Stephens Episcopal church and passionate about family. She was a loving Mother to Julie and son-in-law Roddy McDaniel, Grandmother to Cameron and Austin McDaniel and Great Grandmother to Ashtyn Elizabeth McDaniel.

Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Richard Baker, Husband, Robert E Woodward, and is survived by her children above as well as a niece, nephews and many friends.

A celebration of life service will be forthcoming in Lakeland, Fl and she will be laid to rest in Harrisburg, Pa.
