To the Eichelberger Family,
My heart felt sympathy goes out to you all. My children attended Lew Wallace and Mrs. Eiche as they called her was always someone they had postive comments about. She was a pleasure to meet and a joy to speak to whenever I stopped by the school. She was an inspiration to all of the students that she came in contact with. She was one that they looked up to,admired, and could go to for advice and encouragement. She was also one that the students enjoyed being around becasue she could relate to them and have fun with them. It is my prayer that the Lord would heal your broken hearts and lift up your your bowed down heads.
May God Bless and keep you all in His care is my prayer.

March 3, 2012

Erica Curry Rodgers, Business student at Lew Wallace High Scgool, class of 1995. "Ms. Eich" is what we called her, she was a beautiful and devoted teacher. She taught her students how to succeed in life and not give up. She inspired me as a student and I still remember the lessons of life she taught me at 17 years old. After I graduated hs, she encouraged me to get my real estate license as she said she saw something in me to being a great Realtor. I didn't listen then, but 15 years later I did, and she was right. I made top producer in my real estate office this past year. Thanks again Miss Eich! Love you always! May GOD bless her and her family as they are all in our prayers. She's teaching the angels in heaven something new now!

My condolences to the family, especially Bettye's husband, Harold, and children, Bria and Jhirmack. We worked together at Lew Wallace High School in the Business Department. Bettye was always happy and exhuberant, involved in whatever she was doing. She loved people and took on responsibilities wholeheartedly--a rare personality. Although we didn't see her much since we moved out of state, I always considered her a personal friend, and was saddened when I learned of her passing. God does all things well, and Sherri and I am blessed to have known her. Emogene & Sherri McMurtrey

To the family; God bless you! Bettye will be remembered for her wonderful smile and cheerful attitude. I never saw her upset at anytime as she worked with students, parents, and organizations at Lew Wallace HS. She sponsored so many wonderful activities for the student body and worked with the PTA when I served as President. My three sons (Jerome Mack, Jr, Khari Mack and Benjamin Coleman, Jr) enjoyed the proms, homecomings and many activities as well as myself. The school community has lost a valuable servant-educator who will be missed by many!

To the Eichelberger family:
Just as a delicate flower brings beauty to a garden, Bettye added a special joy to the lives of Lew Wallace High School students. Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us "He hath made every thing beautiful in His time." Bettye was a beautiful person. Anyone who ever attended Lew Wallace-staff and students-knows that she was the embodiment of the Wallace philosophy that character is of the utmost importance. So many of us are thankful for having known Bettye Eichelberger.
