Beverly Cook Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 6 to May 7, 2023.
Beverly Kathleen Cook April 24, 1940 - April 27, 2023

Bev was born at home in Auburn, WA - the seventh of eight children born to Myrtle and Leonard Hilde. Her parents moved from North Dakota to Seattle for Leonard's new job at Boeing. Her family experienced the early loss of brother Milo, and in 1944 - of Myrtle. Leonard left Boeing to find his fortune in logging, and those early years were difficult for her and her brothers and sisters. (Her youngest brother was raised by family in North Dakota.) Bev spent her childhood and youth living in different locations throughout the northwest - Auburn, Spokane, Snohomish, Pendleton, Walla Walla, and relied heavily on her brothers and sisters for encouragement and support.

She met Ronald Jack Cook while working in a nursing home in Everett, where Ron's mom ran the kitchen. Ron and Bev were married in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on February 16, 1963. Ron brought three children to the marriage, and Bev brought one child. They spent their years together living alternately in southern Washington and the Everett area. In 1977 they moved from Battle Ground to purchase a local business in Everett. Their business continues to thrive thanks to their hard work and great co-workers.

Bev was the fun factor of the family - she loved water skiing, boating, swimming, trips to Maui, local and international travel, holidays, road trips. Bev loved her family.

Faith was a big part of Bev's life. Raised a Christian by her parents, she was a long-time, active member of Forest Park Seventh-day Adventist Church. Bev served in various roles at church. She loved the members of faith community dearly.

The past several years were difficult for her, as she faced significant health struggles. Her family worked to shield her from COVID, which dictated she work from home. She delighted in calls or visits. Bev was blessed to be surrounded by a team of courageous caregivers who worked selflessly to ensure she live out her days at home. One of her favorite texts helped her through the tough times:

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

1 Philippians 4:13

Bev is survived by her husband, three step-children, one daughter, two sisters and one brother, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law, many nephews and nieces, much-loved grandchildren, great-grand children, a great-great granddaughter, plus countless friends.

As befits her, when asked before she died - she said should anyone want to remember her with flowers, she would wish instead that a donation could be sent to:

"Scholarship Fund: Bev Cook Memorial" Forest Park Adventist Christian School 4120 Federal Avenue Everett, WA 98203

Per her request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.

May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
