Beverly "Bev" June Karnell (nee Schatzberg) died peacefully at home in Phoenix, Arizona on June 26, 2016 at the age of 87. Bev is survived by her children, Beth Gross (Randy) of Tempe, AZ, Jerry Karnell (Jeanne) of Phoenix, AZ and Cindy Werth (Gene) of Chandler, AZ; her sister Liela Rogoff; grandchildren Linzey Prue (Stefan), Justin Werth (Stephanie), Jeffrey Karnell, Leigh Karnell, Grace White (Pete), Stephen Karnell and Sarah Gross; and great grandchildren McKenzey and Mila Prue, Avrie and Zane Werth and Sean White. She is also survived by her cat Molly. She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Martin "Marty" Karnell. Bev was born on November 14, 1928 in Queens, NYC to Bella and Nathan "Tootsie" Schatzberg. Soon after graduating from high school, Bev married her handsome Navy seaman Marty and they lived on Long Island, NY until they moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1969. In Phoenix, Bev lived at the Paradise Palms Apartments for 47 years where her walls were covered with pictures of family, relatives and friends. Bev worked as an administrator for a doctor's office and was a long-time award winning volunteer for Phoenix Good Samaritan Hospital. Bev had a heart of gold and loved everyone she met. Her friends at the apartment where she lived and the places she shopped and frequented were legion. She left her mark on countless numbers of people who remember her smile, good deeds and radiant personality. Funeral services are Tuesday, June 28th at 9:00 am at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd. in Scottsdale with a reception to follow at her home. In lieu of flowers, please donate a memorial gift in her name to the Banner Health Foundation. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
