Beverly Joan Strader, 86, Decatur, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was born in Clinton, Iowa, Wednesday, May 28, 1930, to the late Archie H. and Alice L. (Griebel) Jared. She married William D. Strader in Clinton on Dec. 17, 1949; he preceded her in death July 29, 1993.
Beverly was a member of St. John Lutheran Church-Bingen. She retired from Heritage High School in 1994 after 15 years of service as the custodian.
Among survivors are her daughters, Michele (Tim) Tierney of Decatur; LouAnn (Fritz) Bultemeyer of Decatur; Lorretta (Jim) Franz of Decatur; and Samantha (Steven) Walker of St. Petersburg, Fla.; step-son, William (Judy) Elliott of Wilcott, Iowa; step-daughter, Merry Elliott of Independence, Iowa; and brother, Robert Jared of Robins, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, David Tierney; Jeromie Tierney; Abby Harvey; Megan Speaks; Von Bultemeyer; Jared Bultemeyer; Jason Bultemeyer; Angela Franz; Elizabeth Heyerly; Amanda Reilly; Jennifer Franz; and Lindsey Walker; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Lea Strader in infancy; and a granddaughter, Larkanne Denise Griffiths on Dec. 14, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church-Bingen, with Rev. Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.
Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church-Bingen or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
