Bickford W. Brannen

To know Bick was a privilege and an inspiration. He lives on in the wonderful instruments he designed and built and in the lives that he enriched. My best wishes to Bob, Laura, and his whole family.

I miss you every day, especially when I'm working at the bench, and working with the parts you designed.

I just learned of Bick Brannen´s death. He was one of the most brilliant men whom I had the privilege of knowing. He and I collaborated on the revival of the conical Boehm flute; and I played on his flutes for most of my concefrt career. Words cannot expess my sorrow at the passing of this great man. My condolences to Laura, Bob Brannen, and family.

Bickford has been a dear friend for so many years and will be sorely missed. He was always so generous in sharing his vast knowledge of flute making. With a heavy heart I must say goodbye, my dear friend.

Kathy and I never got to spend any casual time with Bick and Laura but the time we did spend with them at many model airplane contests was inspiring. I was always amazed at Bicks workmanship. Bicks kindness and willingness to help in anyway possible is something we all miss in this day and age. You will be missed.

I am forever grateful to Bick for giving me the chance to become a piccolo maker. Learning from the best of the best has been the foundation of my career. Working with that amazing collection of talented and wonderful people at Brannen Brothers was the honor of a lifetime. My sincere condolences to Bick´s family and friends.

I never got to meet Bick in person. I am in the the flute industry and feel as I know him. He really set the bar so high. His flute skills are and his disciples are the best in the world and he will leave a legacy for many generations to come.

Condolences to Laura and all of his loved ones. I am indebted to him and his brother for hiring me as a flute maker, a career I loved.

I owe my continuing career to Mr. Brannen. I knew there was more to flute making than I was seeing at my first job in the industry, and he, with Powell Flute, moved me forward. Thank you Bick.
