Bill Conine Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 15, 2024.
Just shy of 80 years old, Bill D. Conine passed away on April 1, 2024, at home in Moorpark, California, surrounded by his family. Of all his life endeavors, Bill's favorite role was being a family man. He loved nothing more than spending time with Dana, his wife of 58 years, daughters Tiffany and Nicole, and their families. Bill was heavily surrounded by women at home. Even the family dog was a girl! He was so easy to love that up to the very end, Bill was doted on and cared for by his wife, daughters and three beloved sisters, Sheila Forrester, Renee Peddicord, and Marilynn Anderson. To even the score a bit, God blessed Bill with two amazing sons by marriage, Robert Higham who shared a love of boating and BBQing, and Matt Moore who shared a love of surround sound movies and days spent poolside. Bill was additionally blessed with six grandchildren, that included four boys in four years, bookended between two girls: Paige Higham (24), Britten Higham (20), Braeden Moore (20), Cade Higham (17), Landen Moore (17), and Addie Grace Moore (13). He instinctively knew how to cherish his granddaughters, and he relished in taking the boys to air shows, shooting ranges, and tossing them higher and rougher in the swimming pool as many times as they begged for.

Bill was born on May 18, 1944, in Oakland, California. His humble beginnings, along with his summers spent working his grandfather's farm, taught him to have a strong work ethic early in life. At the age of 8, an accident almost took his life when he was run over by a car. He vividly recalled asking, "Please God, let me catch this tire," and said that after God answered his cry, he lived with faith knowing his life was truly in God's hands. Bill was preceded by his father William Conine, mother Alberta Conine, younger brother Tim Conine, half-brothers Bill and Ben Conine, as well as some very dear friends he considered family that he is certainly partying with in heaven.

Professionally, Bill held many titles in his life, from salesman, to executive, to entrepreneur, mentor, and coach to small business owners. Those who knew him well understand he could have added expert food critic and BBQ pit master to that list. Bill spent most of his career in the Christian music industry working for Word and Sparrow Records, Maranatha and Frontline Music, and owning his own businesses, the Praise Company and Diamante Music Group. He had a passion for helping Christian business owners and his experiences enabled Bill to end his career as a Convene coach and consultant. Through his endeavors, the one constant was his dedication to Jesus Christ, and it was apparent in how he treated others. Bill has been described countless times as a patient, kind, and gentle leader, a favorite boss, and father figure to many. His "faults" have been detailed as giving people too many chances, investing in the underdog, and putting others' needs before his own; all of which he is certainly now being rewarded for.

Though Bill will be missed dearly, we rejoice in the hope of heaven and that, through our Savior, Jesus Christ, we will one day live together in eternity.

A service to honor the life of Bill Conine will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 11, 2024, at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village, CA. Reception immediately following.

We met Bill & Dana at Redwood Chapel. They were my Sophomore Leaders in the High School Group when they were just young marrieds. Sooo many wonderful memories and shared friends! So Happy that Bill is with His Jesus and praying for God's Comfort for Dana, Tiffany and Nichole and their families! When we think of Bill we always have a smile on our face!

So many great memories of Bill. We met Bill and Dana 30 years. Bill became a close friend and as many say "a father figure" who poured himself into many people. Although I have many great memories of Bill, some of my favorite was to see the smile on his face every time we met at Brent's Deli. He loved the pickles and potato salad but most of all, he enjoyed the chat. We always ended up talking about Jesus and the amazing things God was doing in our lives. I watched Bill's eyes tear up when ever we shared the grace of God with each other. We also laughed a lot when reminiscing about the times we spent together putting together videos and presentations for Diamante. Bill, truly, was one of the most important people in my life and I thank God that I was able to walk part of his journey with him. I have no doubt that we will laugh together in heaven. One last thing, Bill gave our first child, Jessica, her first bible. It is treasured.
