Bill Magnuson

Magnuson, Bill Died at home Mon., Sept. 7, 2009. Visitation Fri., Sept. 11, 3 - 8 p.m., Le Center Funeral Home & 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Funeral services, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Le Center, Sat., 4 p.m. Bill was born Aug. 12, 1933 to Willard & Agnes Magnuson in Minneapolis, MN. He spent his early years in Annandale and Minneapolis & graduated from Minneapolis Roosevelt High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. He attended the University of Minnesota from 1955 to 1959 and was in the AGR Fraternity during those years. He later returned to get his B.S. in Chemical Dependency Counseling in 1975. On Aug. 22, 1959 Bill married Kathryn "Kak" Wiebusch in Stillwater. Bill said, "It was the best thing I ever did." They moved to Le Center in 1968. He worked for Eco Lab in St. Paul and Abbott Northwestern's Lynnville Center at Jordan. He also worked for Choices in Le Center and for Waverly New Beginnings in St. Peter. Bill was a friend of Dr. Bob & Bill W. for 37 years. He helped many people through he 12-Step Program. He was always giving of himself to help others. He also helped with the Meals on Wheels program for several years. Bill was a happy and kind-hearted person and enjoyed visiting with others. He was proud of his daughter and grandchildren and loved being with them and his many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn, on Nov. 28, 2000; and brother, Robert. He is survived by his daughter, Laura Carrero and grandchildren, Leila and Julian, all of West St. Paul; sister-in-law, Judy Magnuson & family of Seattle; and brother, Richard Magnuson & family of Eagle River, Alaska.
