Our relationship began at our first OCA Convention, when Bill adopted us as newcomers. That spark quickly became a full-blown friendship, and we spent many happy times together, in one another's homes, at other conventions, vacations taken together, and on many, many golf courses. We believe our loss is Heaven's gain. Rest in peace, Bill. Lynda & Jan

Dear John, Mike, Jane, and families,
Bill's wife, Betty, was a cousin to my first husband, Lloyd Drake. Our families visited many times over the years. I remember one time we spent a week with Bill and Betty in Florida and had a wonderful time. John and Jane were there also. Bill was a great guy, a wonderful husband and father. Our sincere sympathy to you in your loss. We'll keep you in our prayers.

I had the privilege of working under Bill's tutelage at the B.G. Danis Heavy & Highway Division for 24.5 years where he taught me a great deal about con-
struction but a lot more about life. I fondly remember the golf outings we played in together. My condolences to Mike, John, Jane and brother Bob. God Bless you Mr. Pittman.

In April of 1972 I was graduating from college in two weeks and getting married in four weeks and had no job opportunities on the horizon. After many calls I was able to get an interview with Danis Industries Corporation. As best as I can remember Dick O'Brien was the chief estimator and he had the responsibility of conducting the conversation. After a brief discussion Dick said “Follow me.” He then took me downstairs to the Heavy & Highway Division. Prior to that very instant I did not realize that Danis did more than build buildings. Dick escorted me into Bill Pittman's office and said to Bill “I think you should speak to this young man.” Little did I realize what that moment would mean to me. Next month we celebrate our 42nd anniversary, so that means I have known Bill Pittman for 42 years. If the day before that fortuitous 1972 interview I would have written a description of my expectations of a relationship with a best friend, with a boss, with a mentor, or with an individual that I would choose to emulate I could have not scripted it to depict how wonderful my relationship with Bill Pittman actually became, because he was all of those to me. I realize there are many individuals that either worked for Bill or came in contact with him that feel this way and that is because of the man he was. I realize he is now in a better place, but there is an empty feeling knowing that his sage advice is no longer just a phone call away. With much love to the Pittman family for sharing their Dad with me.

My relationship with Bill developed as trustees on the board at Willow Brook Christian Communities. He and I often shared conversations regarding personal health and ongoing business issues. My time spent with him was always enjoyable and respectful. He was truly a man of good character desirous of assisting others when needed. To John, Mike, Jane and brother Bob I am sorry to hear about your loss. I remember in the summer of 1964 as I was about to get out of the service I wrote Bill a letter asking for employment when I got back to Dayton. Thus began the 20+years of working for the best boss anyone could ask for. A couple of things come to mind since memories become clearer after someones passing. Bill used to make the long drives to projects in eastern Ohio and WV. I asked him what he did while driving alone. He said that he would keep track of the different colors of cars. Then the next time he would keep track of the different makes of cars and trucks. We went to Houston, Texas to the equipment show one year and after being there we noticed that the people with cowboy hats got better service. So we bought hats and our service improved greatly! See picture. Whenever the company bought a new piece of equipment, Bill would have to get on and have to operate it for a short time. After I moved to Florida, Bill would never fail to call and want to have lunch before they headed back north. This was the type of person he was. I will always remember all the good times.

The Danis helicopter made a noisy landing on the golf course at a state park where the company's managers were meeting. A golf bag dropped out the door, then a suitcase and finally Bill Pittman emerged. "This is going to be one serious golf game," one park employee said to another. Bill was serious about his work, too, and Danis was the better for it.

Mike and Family,

We mentioned Bill often at church today and with that came joy and tears. There will be a void in the world without Bill. There will especially be a void in our lives at the church where we knew him so well.

I want to share this with you. I was reading this quote at Easter time (regarding Jesus Resurrection). Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I
am and to see my Glory, the Glory you have given me because you Loved Me before the foundation of the world. Bill was Loved! Love Gail Oakes

We have been Bill's neighbor here in Florida for 14 years. He was a great neighbor and friend and a pretty decent golfer. Bill would always go out of his way to say hello and help anyone who needed it. We can still see him taking his nightly walk and stopping to talk about the days activities. He would get the neighbors together to go our to dinner at Vic's Supper Club. He was a joy to know and we will miss him terribly. Our prayers go out to his family in this time of sorrow.
