Bill Richardson is undoubtedly the most regarded US diplomat dealt with Bangladesh. As a result of his reputation, and faith in the wellbeing of people, Bangladesh bended its war of drugs law all released a convicted American woman from the prison. Governor Richardson also stood up for the human rights for Rohingya refugees that were expelled from Myanmar. We will miss him, a world without a human like him is more like a world that provides power to the oppressor and blame the oppressed.

Bill Richardson was at the top of my list of people I thought most deserved to be elected President of the United States. While his campaign for the White House was unsuccessful he will surely endure in history as one of our most successful diplomats. What a gift he had for dealing with our most stubborn adversaries! Admirably unflappable straight shooters of his sort were already in short supply before his passing so I mourn him deeply in its wake.

I met Mr. Richardson in the early 90's when I was working at the State Capitol as an aide. I was new on the job and nervous. Everyone was so serious. Then, Mr. Richardson walked into the room, taller than everyone else, making eye contact with everyone and I saw his big smile. He broke the ice and was well-respected. I imagine that's how he could work so well with unfriendly people around the world. My sincere sympathy to his family and friends.

I admire what Ambassador Bill Richardson did to help prisoners to be freed, from other countries. I feel he was very Brave. I know two people he helped here in New Mexico when he was Governor. We were Blessed to have had him as Governor of New Mexico.

I admire what Ambassador Bill Richardson did to help people. He was very Brave to do what he did to get people freed, who were held prisoners by other countries. I know 2 people he helped when he was Governor of New Mexico. We were Blessed to have him as Governor here in New Mexico. May his precious soul now rest in paradise. I just wanted to share a few moments of times that I did spend with the Congressman and Governor of the State of NM. On a side note, Congressman/Governor Bill Richardson was instrumental and assisted me in recognizing Cesar Estrada Chavez (UFW of America - AFL-CIO) in New Mexico after Cesar Estrada Chavez died in Arizona in 1993. Governor Richardson ensured that Cesar Estrada Chavez name was recognized on the U.S. Congress Chambers with a Memorial Resolution from him. After 1994, I spearheaded a state legislature effort to declare "March 31st - Cesar Estrada Chavez State Holiday and State Commission;" however, the former Governor Gary Johnson vetoed both of my state legislature bills in 1994 and 1998. Again, Governor Richardson supported my efforts in the mental health field by appointing me to the NM Counseling & Therapy Practice Board to address the lack of bilingual behavioral professionals in New Mexico. Work in Progress to this day. Lastly, Governor Richarson was instrumental in assisting me and our Northern, NM families with the "Our Lady" controversy that occurred at the State Museum sometime in 2001 after he was elected as our Governor of the State of NM. This sensitive matter received national recognition and media attention worldwide. Governor Bill Richardson was a simple soul that roam the earth with good intentions for helping the people that he truly loved and accomplished his public service without hesitation. May his familia, relatives, and close friends be gentle with each other on this day. I will light a little velita for his soul and his familia as well. - Chappy Jose & Kathy Rose Villegas
