Bill Stude Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 7, 2025.
William "Bill" C. Stude, Jr.

William C. Stude, Jr. 86, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on March 2, 2025.

A native St. Louisan, Bill was an alumnus of Our Lady of Lourdes, Christian Brothers College and St. Louis University. Immediately following graduation, Bill embarked on a lifelong career in commercial real estate and was grateful for the opportunity to be in the profession. Discipline coupled with a genuine interest in people were the keys to his success. Bill enjoyed working until his very last days.

His true good fortune arrived on a blind date, when he met Margaret Ann Kriegshauser, sparking a love that would last a lifetime. Their 57 years of marriage were filled with love and devotion. They made a dynamic doubles team on the tennis court, a terrific twosome on golf courses across the country, and were often spotted holding hands walking along the beaches in Carmel-by-the-Sea and Northern Michigan. Bill's greatest joy was spending time with family- his wife, his five children, their spouses, and his fourteen beloved grandchildren.

Bill had an affinity for cars (and driving fast), travel and adventure. He combined these passions on road trips and scenic drives and always developed friendships along the way- never meeting a stranger. He listened well to others' stories and found ways to connect. He was concerned about the success and wellbeing of everyone whether it was the owner of a restaurant, one of his tenants, or his regular mailman. He was always friendly, generous and kind. Bill loved to share his discoveries and favorite things and recommended books, films, restaurants and, most often, gifted something that satisfied his sweet tooth. With Bill, once a friend, always a friend. He was grateful for everyone in his life and nurtured these relationships with frequent calls and check-ins, especially if a friend was in need.

Bill will be remembered for his mischievous smile, wonderful sense of humor, love of family and his loyalty to friends.

Devoted son of the late Dr. William C. and Eleanor Bradley Stude, beloved husband of Margaret Stude, loving father of Margaret (Simon) Michael, Susan (Bill) Benton, Bill (Kerrie) Stude, III, Cathy (Bill) Newbold, and Tricia (Frank) Tallman, caring brother to Eleanor Stude, proud grandfather of Christopher and Alex Michael; Mack, Bradley and George Benton; Carolyn, Kate and Billy Stude; Liam, Elise and Margot Newbold; and Parker, Mason and Greta Tallman; cherished uncle and cousin.

Services: Visitation will be at 9:00 am with Funeral Mass following at 10:00 am Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Church of the Immacolata, 8900 Clayton Road. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to:
