Billy Ray Cannon was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Glendale, Texas, to Ransom Pension Cannon and Burnice Lesser Cannon and passed away April 12, 2008, in Houston, Texas.Billy Ray was raised in Corsicana and graduated from the Corsicana State School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 - 1955; worked for W. K .M./ACF Industries for thirty seven years and was a private store owner in Soda for five years.Throughout the years, Billy Ray's big enjoyments were being a big Astros and Texas Longhorn fan, raising cattle, relaxing outdoors, cooking, hunting and fishing and just enjoying being outside the daily office routine.He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise Cannon of Riverside; son and wife, Mark and Sherry Cannon of Katy; daughter and husband, Cindy and John Petrosky of Needville; daughter, Roslyn White of Richmond; granddaughter, Cristina Cannon of New York City; granddaughter, Michelle Waltmon of Deer Park; granddaughter, Bridget Lagas of Needville; granddaughter, Morgan White of Rosenberg; great grandsons, Justin Waltmon, Joshua Lagas, Joseph Lagas, and Jonathan Holt; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters. Services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2008, in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with Otis Byers officiating.Memorial condolences may be made at www.shmfh.com.
