Billy Joe Carty PINEY FLATS, Tenn. Billy Joe Carty, age 69, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born in Sullivan Co., Tenn., to the late Edward B. and Mona Milhorn Carty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Tester. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with the Tennessee Highway Department. Mr. Carty was of the Baptist faith and he loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janice Bryan Carty of the home; one daughter, Connie Arnold and husband, Chuck, of Bluff City, Tenn.; one grandson, Chase Arnold of Bluff City; one brother, Eddie Carty Sr. of Gate City, Va.; and one sister, Betty Humphreys of Bluff City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family extends a special thank you to Medical Center Hospice, Home Health nurses and doctors and staff of Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Tetrick Funeral Home Bluff City Chapel with the Rev. Mike Pope and the Rev. Frank Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends from 68 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home and anytime at the residence. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19 in the Sunrise Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 to go in procession to the cemetery. Those who prefer memorial in lieu of flowers may make donations to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 130, Bluff City, TN 37618. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.tetrickfuneralhome.com and signing the guest book. Tetrick Funeral Home - Bluff City Chapel is serving the family.
