I had the honor to meet Mr. Edward´s when I was in college in the early eighties. I was working at a campus NPR station and traveled to Washington for a tour of NPR. Mr. Edward´s was incredibly kind to me in our brief encounter. A true gentleman. I remember him broadcasting on 9/11. Can´t believe he is gone. He will be missed.

I went to grade school with Bob. We played football,basketball and sand lot baseball. He was a friend and a companion during all of his years on Morninh Edition. Bob wa always one of the good guys. Sad that he is no longer a strong voice on of reason n the radio.

I remember listening to Mr Edwards in NPR's Morning Edition. He was a wonderful host.

In 1992 I was organizing the Derby Breakfast for Locust Grove Historic Home in Louisville and I asked Bob to be our special guest. Locust Grove was the last home of General George Rogers Clark and Bob was truly a hometown boy. It was a wonderful weekend and Bob brought his family back to visit that summer. I wish that time had allowed for us to get together again but that was not to be. I will always remember our time together for the Kentucky Derby with a real Kentucky winner.

As a longtime listener of NPR I too woke up with Bob Edwards. My most memorable segments were his interviews with Red Barber.

I listened to him every day..his voice was so warm and reassuring...despite whatever was happening in the world. I was disappointed when the format of Morning Edition changed, but time moves on. The new hosts were excellent as well. We are grateful for NPR in America and hope our legislators will see fit to continue to fund it.

I well remember Bob being interviewed (I no longer remember by whom) but they asked him how to pronounce "Louisville". Without hesitation he said what natives know: There is no "s" sound in Louisville, and the majority of natives use no "e" sound, either. Thus you have it - per Bob - Loo` uh vuhl.

An amazing host with such a long running career. So many were able to enjoy his shows for so many years. Heartfelt condolences to the Edwards family. So very sorry for your loss. May God grant strength and peace to you in your time of loss.

It should not be overlooked that Bob served in the United States Army following college. His talent and presence at the Armed Forces Network in Korea are well remembered as a producer of radio and television programs as well as the anchor for the nightly news. His military broadcasting colleagues salute his service in uniform and his career in public broadcasting.

Years ago I listened to Bob interviewing Red Barber and have fond memories of their conversations. Bob, as always, proved a cordial and capable host. The chats brought out the best of Red. A legend in sports broadcasting and revealed Bob's genuine sense of humor. He'll be missed by everyone who tuned him in.
