In 1979 Bob's company hired me from TJC Drafting to do some mapping for him, I'll never forget those days and Mr Herd showed me some sub-surface mapping techniques. I was offered a full time job when I was close to graduation, but I declined and went with Sun Production and Expl in Dallas. In hindsight, I always wonder what I left behind. Thanks Mr Herd! I just happened on this and was saddened to hear, but what a great gentleman!

My condolences to Mr. Herds family and friends. I had the honor and pleasure to work for Herd Producing for 10 years and working with who i feel was the best of the best people. Working for Jeff and Bob for those 10 years was the most rewarding and educational of my entire career. I had a lot of admiration for him and what he accomplished. I know he will be missed by his family and the community. I interviewed with a VP of Anadarko one time and when they saw i worked for Bob Herd they told me Bob was the smartest and shrewdest businessman they had ever dealt with. They said anyone that worked for Bob Herd 10 years can work for us. A testament to his knowledge, vision, wisdon and charisma. He was indeed one of a kind!
